Germination


Germination testing is offered on:
All   Arugula   Beet /Swiss chard / sugar beet   Carrot   Celery   Chickpea   Coriander   Corn   Leek   Lettuce   Melon   Mustard, (India/black)   Onion   Papaya   Pepper   Pumpkin   Radish   Rice   Ryegrass   Squash   Sunflower   Tomato   Turnip   Watermelon   Wheat     

AOSA, ISTA and Canadian rules are followed for germination. In addition, we have developed vigor tests for selected crops. For example, we use vertical blotter to determine sprout length (and thus seedling uniformity) of lettuce. We also determine growth rate (rapidity) of roots by comparing to control lots. Rate of emergence is is also used to determine seed vigor. For example, 24 hr and 48 hr emergence counts are used as an indicator for lettuce vigor
